Teddy Controls and Crouch

Teddy does not ship a long tutorial overlay. The first death is often a controls death: you mash jump on a vent, you cannot find crouch, or you open the shop while the bear turns the corner. This page is the input list for GnomeCode’s Teddy, written for people who arrived from Piggy, Doors, or a phone browser.

PC defaults that matter

Movement is standard WASD. Camera is the mouse. Interact is the usual Roblox prompt on doors, keys, and shop items — look for the on-screen hint rather than assuming E on every account. Jump is Space and it is almost never the answer in a chase. Jumping is loud, tall, and useless in a crawl.

Crouch / crawl is Left Control on keyboard. That is the key people ask about in every first lobby. Hold or toggle depending on how the current client build treats the input; if you stand up in a vent, tap it again before you panic. Crawling lowers your profile, fits Nursery toys and later gaps, and cuts some noise. It also slows you. Crouch in the vent, walk in the hall, sprint only when the exit is real.

Shift sprint exists for people who grew up on every other Roblox title. In Teddy, sprint is a flare. Use it to cross an already-cleared yard or to finish a lock animation you started. Do not sprint to “find the key faster.” The key is not faster if you donate your position.

Mobile

On touch, the crouch control is a UI button, not a secret swipe. Find it in the first ten seconds of the lobby, not during the first growl. Pinching the camera into a doorframe is how people miss a prompt. Keep the interact button visible. If a thumb covers it, rotate the device or shrink the dynamic thumbstick in Roblox settings before you vote a hard chapter.

Mobile audio is worse in noisy rooms. Headphones are a survival item. The how to survive page assumes you can hear footsteps.

Gamepad

Controllers work. Crouch is often a face button or stick click depending on your Roblox mapping — open the in-experience help if the lobby shows one, and test crouch before the cutscene. Do not learn the mapping on Chapter 2 Grizzly Camp. Learn it in the lobby fountain. Trigger sprint is the same trap as keyboard sprint.

If chat is bound next to crouch on your pad, disable accidental chat. A chat box in a chase is a loading screen for the hug.

The Puzzle Piece shop, the vote panel leftovers, and the Roblox escape menu all steal the camera. Buy cosmetics between rounds using the shop guide. Check codes never, or only in the lobby if a live string exists. Badge toasts can wait; the badge checklist is for after the exit.

Teddy as the hunter uses the same move keys plus a honey throw. If the prompt is not obvious, look at the bottom of the screen the moment you spawn as the bear. Honey is covered in how to play as Teddy. Do not spend the first jar testing the input on an empty floor if kids are already at a lock.

Accessibility and comfort

You can raise brightness in Roblox settings for Camp and Nightmare. You cannot replace audio. Colorblind players should still read key names in chat (“red,” “silver tool”) because some props share silhouettes. If you get motion sick in the zoo, lower camera sensitivity instead of quitting the only wide map.

A thirty-second drill

Before you vote, crouch twice, open and close a lobby door if one exists, and glance at the shop bind. That drill is shorter than a wipe. Then open Getting Started if this is night one, or the walkthrough for the winning chapter if it is not. Controls do not earn badges. They stop you from throwing badges you already earned with a missed vent.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players ask after a failed escape.

What is the crouch key on PC?

Left Control. If it fails, check Roblox keybinds and test in the lobby before the chapter loads.

Why can’t I fit through a gap?

You are standing. Crouch into the crawl. Nursery toys and later vents expect the smaller hitbox.

Is there a unique controller overlay?

Teddy uses Roblox prompts. Test crouch and interact in the lobby. Do not wait for Camp.

Should I rebind sprint?

Only if you keep sprinting by accident. Quiet movement wins more rounds than a faster WASD.
